About Karen Whitmore
I have always had an absolute love for babies. They have always been amazing
to me and from a very young age I have understood what a true miracle each one
is. At any given opportunity, a baby was in my arms for as long as the mother
would let it stay. Even as a young girl, I would study the features of each and
every baby I would hold. I would try to etch the details into my memory because
I realized how fast they would change and how quick their tiny features would
dissapear.
Then came my children, and oh, how I did not want them to grow! But as the days
passed and I would look back at their pictures, I knew the baby that was in that
picture was gone. It had been replaced with an older and more wonderful one. If
you are a mother, you know what I mean.
I began to buy infant dolls. I just wanted one that would capture the true
essence of a newborn child so that whenever I missed my babies, I could hold it
and hug it, and even change its outfit if I felt like it! But no matter how much
I paid or which doll I ordered, I could not find one that looked or felt real
enough. That is how I became the founder of The Neverland Nursery. I decided I
would make one myself and boy did it turn out to be a grand adventure! I attend
the big doll shows and read the magazines and, I have to say, my babies are some
of the most realistic I have ever seen!
God has truly blessed me with beautiful talents. I had the opportunity to spend
the first 30 years of my life as a ballet dancer and teacher in the performing
arts. Now I am blessed to be able to direct my talents in visual arts toward my
love for babies. What could be more fun than creating beautiful replicas of the
most delicate and precious time in life- infancy! My undaunting quest to find a
"real" doll has led me to a new & exciting era in my life! I am so excited to be
able to create these precious liitle ones and I am honored that you are here!
