The Creation

 

Rest assured that only the finest materials are used in my babies and
absolutely no expense is spared! Time is the most important factor in creating realism in reborn babies. My babies are created carefully with the utmost attention to detail. I do not rush to get to the next order. I take as much time as needed. I would never create anything less than what would meet my own expectations and standards. Each time I create a new baby, I strive to meet an even higher level of realism. I am always looking, learning, and evolving. You can expect the highest quality in babies from The Neverland Nursery.
You will receive a beautiful heirloom that can be passed down for generations.

 

Baby begins its journey into your heart at the nursery by having a warm bubble bath to remove any factory residues. Once baby is thoroughly air dried then I perform any manipulations of the vinyl that need to be done such as trimming eye sockets, opening nostrils so baby can breath, etc. I then mix baby's own special blend of Genesis Heat Set Paints and the magic begins.

 

Several layers of flesh tones, mottling, and blushing are applied using varying techniques to produce the complexion appropriate for the age baby will portray. I then lay down the veins in all the right places. You won't find bluish spots where there should be veins on my babies. Your baby will have the most realistic veins that appear to lie beneath the layers of skin just as ours do. You'll be amazed! I then add the tiniest details such as capillaries on the eyelids, stork bites, birthmarks, rashing, etc. The lips are colored in several thin layers to give natural depth and they are oh so kissable! The thinnest, baby like, finger and toe nails are then painted on in a natural color so that baby doesn't look like she just returned from the salon with a French manicure. On older toddler babies, the fingers and toes will even have the faintest little white moons under the nail if the beds are large enough to paint them on. I then seal them with a matte clear coat so that they look natural and not polished. I feather on the most delicate baby brows that are barely there just as a real baby has. I will finish your baby's skin with a nice velvety texturizing layer. This layer is truly magical! It takes away the shine from the vinyl and turns your doll into a baby. This layer gives baby's skin the dewy fresh appearance of a real live infant! For collector's who prefer their baby not have this layer, simply let me know and I will leave it off.

 

Then comes the painstaking task of micro rooting baby's head with a 40 or 42 gauge rooting needle. I only use the highest quality mohair available and will use your preferred brand if you have one so long as it is exquisite quality. Depending on the head of hair desired, either one or two strands per follicle will be used on the entire head to create a gorgeous infant head of hair. Unless you ask for a really full head of hair, one strand is painstakingly used on infant heads. We will also determine whether kid or yearling hair should be used for your baby. You will not find unnatural "plugs" of hair on your baby's head anywhere! A crown swirl will be created and then baby's head will be directionally rooted so that the hairs flow in a natural growth pattern and lays nicely on his or her head. I will then waterproof seal the hair inside of the head so that it can be gently washed and styled. If your baby is sleeping I will also root the delicate eyelashes. I will discuss baby's hair with you in depth to find out exactly what you want.

 

While the waterproof seal is drying, I add any magnets that need to be placed inside the head so that they can be drying also. If magnets will be used in any of the limbs, I place them now too. I also use this time to assemble pacifiers and hairbows and to make spit bubbles in baby's mouth if you want them!

 

Next, the body is assembled and weighted to head supporting, cuddly perfection. You won't want to put baby down! Your precious little one will snuggle into your body so nicely! I make sure baby's weight feels natural and proportionate to baby's size. I never use sand in Neverland! All of my babies are weighted with tiny glass beads in the limbs and tiny solid stainless steel beads encased in pouches within the body and head, baby fat inserts if requested, and silken polyfill.

 

Now that all glues are dry, eyes are inserted, felt is backed behind the nose on breathers, earrings are pierced (if chosen), the head is then weighted and secured to the body. Moisture is added to the eyes, lips, mouth, and nose. Baby dries one more time and then I weigh her, dress her, photograph her, hug her one last time and get her ready to come home to you!

 

** Genesis paints are specially formulated for use on vinyl. Each transparently thin layer is baked after application so that the layers actually set into eachother and won't chip or fade for beautifully real coloring that will last for generations!
